2019_Woven-3

I have sold ALL of my baskets for Sunday, but WOW!
I am blown away by the amazing support shown by this community in response to this project.
You've inspired me to do this again... very soon!
Cheers to STRONG women and all those STONG supporters among us.

Please continue to support the work of these women. Many are offering Mother's Day specials of their own.

  • A festive black ink, lined notepad produced by Portland-based Paper Epiphanies. Founder (aka Boss Lady) Victoria Venturi has developed a line of letter pressed stationery and luxury office products that celebrate the humor in life and brilliantly captures the voice of today. Leading with her motto, “who says power can’t be pretty,” Victoria has built a multi-faceted global brand that empowers and encourages women to say what they want to say, however the hell they want to say it. Through her sassy, chic, and unapologetically edgy products she makes us laugh, make us feel supported, and reminds us that our place is ANYWHERE we want to be. www.paperepiphanies.com

  • “The flavor of honey tells you what was happening right in that very moment – what was blooming and where the bees have been. It’s a testament to the terroir.” stated Lee Hedgmon, founder of The Barreled Bee in an article published by Portland State University, her alma mater. We’ve included six of Lee’s Batch 106 Honey Sticks. For this project, bees gathered nectar and pollen from large yellow pumpkin blossoms, pollinating as they go and turned it into delicious honey. On its own this pumpkin honey tastes like caramelized sweet pie pumpkin dusted with brown sugar, but there's an underlying earthiness that keeps it from being overly sweet on the palate. Batch 106 was aged in a 3-year bourbon barrel from local women-owned and operated distillery, Freeland Spirits. www.thebarreledbee.com

  • Cheese. The ooey-gooey, ohhh my god this is amazing kind of cheese. Butterbloom (1/4lb) from Briar Rose Creamery is a butter bomb. This is a soft, bloomy rind, Guernsey cow’s milk cheese with a velvety texture. It tastes of warm buttermilk, creamed corn, papaya, oyster mushrooms, buttercream frosting, and crème fraiche. Sarah Marcus is the proprietor and cheesemaker for Briar Rose where every cheese is made by hand, from start to finish using only the very best, fresh milk. She has won several awards over the past decade of crafting delicious cheese. www.briarrosecreamery.com (Sourced by Food Field Trip #CheeseClubPDX)

  • Housemade buttery crackers baked with herbs, Parmesan cheese, and a hint of sour cream from the Belle Saveur PDX kitchen. Chef Jessica MacLaren is making a special batch of these amazing biscuits just for you. Not only are they perfectly delicious all by themselves they will pair brilliantly with Sara’s cheese. Jessica is a private chef, a caterer, and a cooking instructor. Her food mission is to write recipes and prepare dishes inspired by her travels that showcase the best seasonal ingredients the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Most recently Chef Jessica co-founded The Wellness Tribe, a commitment to self-care, supported by experiences and inspirations to share health + wellness for all. In addition to being a talented chef, Jessica is a certified yoga instructor. https://www.bellesaveur.com|https://www.wellnesstribe.us

  • We look to the future for your final gift. Ten-year-old Ava Eden, daughter of Woven’s winegrower Elaina Spring Eden, has hand crafted a mini-sized Mother's Day Macramé wall hanging. Ava, now in the third month of remote learning, is a fifth grader attending the Oregon Episcopal School. While practicing physical distancing she has been dedicated to using her ‘power for good’ through various service-learning projects. The mission of the school’s program is to inspire students to connect to the world around them, create ways to help others, and commit to lifelong service. During her time away from the classroom Ava has taught herself the age-old tradition of knot tying and modern macramé. She spent countless hours preparing these beautiful woven creations for you to enjoy. Per her request, in compensation for her efforts, we have made a donation to Frontline Foods PDX. #thefutureiswoven
