About the Label:
Writing on the back of the original photograph:
The car featured on this bottle is believed to be a 1913 Buick Model 25, Touring Edition. These vehicles were purchased by the wealthy class for their fast speed attainable by a four cylinder engine and two speed transmission. They were among the most sought after cars of their time and had a reputation of some of the best built vehicles of the pre-war era.
"Old Kate" as this particular vehicle was fondly called, belong to Hugh McKinley. Hugh McKinley was born on September 24, 1887, in Fulton, South Dakota. His parents were Harriet (Hattie) Emma Bull and Charles Lincoln McKinley. He had one brother and three sisters. One of these sisters was Harriett McKinley Allen who was Elaina's Great Grandma and Jim's Grandmother who is featured in the photographs for bottles No. 1 (2012 Pinot Noir) and No. 8 (A Midsummer Day Cuvée).
Hugh married Ella at the age of 26 on the 10th of June in 1914 in Vancouver, WA. Ms. Eleanora (Ella) B. Jewell was born in 1885 in New York. She was a teacher for deaf students in Vancouver. Sadly, Hugh died on March 6, 1919, at the young age of 31 years old. This was the same year the Spanish Flu decimated the world population. Hugh was known for his charm, charismatic personality, and joie de vivre.
